!S.P. May p.420 Charles Sears was a tailor. In 1821, he settled in Newark Valley, NY, where in 1823, he built the house, which since 1827, has been occupied by the Byington family. In the latter year he removed to Genoa, NY, and in Jun, 1836, to Allen, Hinsdale co., MI, where he died.

May p.421 Hart Sears was a tailor; dwelt in Newark Valley till spring of 1831; at Talcott's Corners, Venice, NY, till spring of 1833, and at Northville, Genoa, NY, till fall of 1834, when he returned to Newark Valley, where his widow still lives. In his early days he was a great hunter, and killed many deer on the hills about Newark Valley. He joined the "Washingtonians" in 1840; was baptized and joined the Cong. Ch. in Newark Valley, 2 Jan 1859.
