!DRS- Unmarried, Charlotte attended Miss Elizabeth Thurber's kindergarten, Miss Annie Alden's primary school, and Plymouth public schools; Mount Holyoke and Simmons Colleges. She was then employed by the Farm and Trade School on Thompson's Island in Boston harbor, a school for disadvantaged boys. After two years, as there seemed to be no very bright or appealing future there, she took a secretarial course in Boston. After a few years of experience in positions in industrial business she was employed by John N. Worcester, who was opening a law office in Boston. She held this position for 37 years. On retirement in 1968 she and her sister Marian purchased the home of Margaret Lord which was built about 1920 on land previously owned by their grandfather Ivory Blackmer, and only a short distance from the house where she was born. In 1975 she, her sister Marian and brother Francis gave their summer home and 23 acres at Elisha's Point in Plymouth to Manomet Bird Observatory, to be known as the Ella M and Walter H Sears Reservation. The land was purchased by their father in 1889. Charlotte ahas been active in the Pilgrom Society, Plymouth County Wildlands Trust, Plymouth Antiquarian Society, and the Plymouth Garden Club. She is a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants and of the Corporation of the Plymouth Public Library.
