May p.127 Enoch Sears removed with his parents about 1749, to South-East NY, then a part of Oblong, NY; "went west,"(Kingston, NY?) and was lost on Long Island Sound, three months before the birth of his son. His wife died of grief eight months after Ira's birth, and the child was brought up by an uncle's wife who cared for him as her own babe. The Underhills were Quakers.
