!DSB-Applied for land in Quebec at Arlington, VT, in 1786/7. Was deeded 100 acres in lot 9, 9th Con of Caldwell Manor, Quebec on 9 Oct 1789. Applied for Sutton land in 1795, and granted land at Sutton in 1802, but sold it in 1802. Regulations did not require that he live on this Sutton land, and I doubt Hezekiah ever lived anywhere but Caldwell Manor. Rules in original contract required grantees to have someone live on, and work, land for 7 years. Since many of these grantees sold their land in 1802, I beleive they actually took up possession of the land in 1705, and after their 7 years were up (1802), they were actually owners of it. Hezekaih lived at Caldwell Manor when he sold the Sutton land, and when he died. Hezekiah was the father of at least 3 children- proven on deeds. The deed when the younger Hezekiah sold his inherited land in 1834 stated-"as the same was by him inherited by right of Succession to Hezekiah Sears, late of said Foucault, deceased, his father."
