!S.P. May p.314 November, 1776, Holmes Sears was allowed for rations L5.10, and for travel L2.4; he was in Lt Judah Wood's Co. in Lt-Col Thos. Lothrop's Regt, and marched from Halifax to Bristol on alarm of 9 Dec 1776; was 11 days in camp and allowed for 80 miles and 4 days' travel. He probably served in regular army also, as his widow drew a pension in 1840; she was then aged 77, and living with her son William. His will, dated 2 Sep 1834, was allowed 16 Jan 1837, and mentions wife Mercy, sons Ward and William, dau. Lucinda Johnson, and grand-sons, William Holmes Sears and Henry Ward Sears.
