!S.P. May p.509 James Sears removed from New York to Michigan, and in 1850 to California, where he made a small fortune, and thence to Minnesota, and later to Dubuque, IA. About 1860, he was at Carson City, NV and with his brother Gregory located and purchased half the town site; removed, in 1867, to Helena, MT, and in 1869-70 to White Pine during the mining excitement; afterwards to Eureka, NV and to Indigo county, CA; carried on a farm in Sprague, Washington Territory, and is now resident at Glendive, Damson county, MT
