!S.P. May p.124 John Sears lived in Chatham for a time, is said to have occupied the old Richard Sears house; he removed to Rochester, MA, and thence to Rhode Island, perhaps to Tiverton or Bristol. He was in 2d Foot Co., called out on alarm at Dartmouth and Falmouth, 6-7 May 1776, and again 5-11 Sep 1778, under Lt John Doty, in Col Eben Sproul's Regt; served 6 days; also 13-17 Sep 1778. I find in records of Middleboro, MA, "17 Dec 1805, by Rev Danl. Gurney, John Sears of Bristol, RI, to Melinda Keith of Bridgewater." This may be a son. Melinda, dau. of John and Melinda Sears d 8 Mar 1815, ae 2 yrs, gr-st. !MD 24, p.67-Chatham VR p.153 April 4th 1767 Then John Sears Juner of Chatham Entred his Intentions of marriage with Silvester Sisson of Tivertown In order for publishment Thereof to be made In Chatham by James Covel Town Clerk
