!SP May pp 476 Is connected with NK Fairbank & Co., Chicago, IL !BFW Fifteen miles north of Chicago on the bluffs of Lake Michigan lies Kenilworth, founded and developed by Joseph Sears. A suburban village where the tired businessman could find his family of an evening in quiet,m healthful and esthetic surroundings. During the Civil War he was a private in Co A, 134th IL Infantry, USV, became commissary Sergeant and was mustered out in Oct 1864 to become 1Lt and Regimental Quartermaster, 147th IL Infantry until 1865. The regt served in N GA where he was an aid on Gen Judah's staff, Cdr 2d Separate Div.

Yar., June 29, 1742. His will, dated July 12, 1776, and proved Sep. 9, 1779, mentions children of dau. Ruth Wing; and son Stephen, Exr. Inventory L 5,364 14 6. Dower was set off to Bashua Sears, widow, Sep. 28,1779

"His illness was short, he had scarcely ever a day's sickness; he lived nearly fifty years with his wife, but had no children." His will dated Aug. 7,1765, was proved Sep. 24, 1765, by his wife Elizabeth, Execx.; names Samuel, son of Bro. Samuel; Seth, son of Bro. Seth; Prince, son of Bro. JOnathan, deceased; Samuel Vincent, son of sister Hannah, and other near relatives. "Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Sears, Secundus," was adm. 2d Ch., Yar., from Ch., Har., Aug. 3, 1735. Her estate was admd. upon by Thos. Clarke, Aug. 5, 1772, and was valued at L 50 18 11.

!S.P. May p.183 Joseph Sears had the old homestead in East Yarmouth, now Dennis at his father's decease in 1796. He took a prominent part in town affairs, was selectman for 11 years from 1794 and was Rep. in 1800. He was in Capt Elisha Hedge's Co., in Col Nat Freeman's Regt, and served in RI, 1 mo. 4 days; and in Lt Micajah Sears' Co., at alarm Dartmouth and Falmouth, 6 Sep 1778, serving 3 days.
