!BIRTH-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN: Patricia Ann Hoagland McEwen, ROBERT McEWEN Scottish Exile to America 1685 AND HIS DESCENDANTS; 1685-1991; Palo Alto, CA, McEWEN, 1991;p 51, 53; Copy in poss of Ray Sears, Duncan, OK; Though no certain record has been found of Jonah and Lois Fuller in MI, whither several of their children migrated (Moses, Gaius, Emeline, Dexter, Jonah, Sarah and possibly Charles), two notes exist indicating that they accompanied their children. First, there is the statement in the obituary of their son Jonah that "In 1836, when about fifteen years of age, his parents moved to this state [MI] and settled in the township of Webster, Washtenaw co, then an almost unbroken wilderness."[57-Undated obituary appearing in an unnamed newspaper of Corunna, MI, giving the death of Jonah Fuller, Jr, as having occurred on 31 May 1878, photocopy supplied by Leo E Smith of Tucson, AZ, with letter 16 Apr 1988.] Second there is an incomplete statement in the Sears genealogy that "A dau [of Rowland] m. --- Fuller of Ann Arbor, MI. Since they would have been about sixty years of age in 1836, when Gaius, Moses, and the younger Jonah settled there,[59-Ellis, pp 269, 338; History of Shiawassee co, MI, p 138] they were not physically beyond undertaking the resettlement, and there is no death record for either Jonah or Lois in Ashfield VR. Further, the 1840 MI census for Livingston co lists the household of Jonah's son Moses Fuller as consisting of one male 30-40; one male 60-70; one female 20-30; and one female 50-60. The two older people shown here could be Jonah and Lois Fuller, though Lois would have been sixty-three in that year, hence incorrectly included in the 50-60 category. It is equally possible, of course, that the elderly man and woman are parents of Moses Fuller's wife. These fragmentary data add wieght to the probability of the elder Fullers having undertaken the long pioneering trek to the opening Michigan promise. In 1978 George Hessel McEwan of Escanaba, MI, a great-grandson of George and Sarah (Fuller) McEwen, found among family papers the following list entitled "Grandmother's family" in the handwriting of his father George Fuller McEwen. The handwriting of the list itself was unknown to George Hessel McEwen.
