!Barbara Sears McRae Bob joined the US Geological Survey team mapping the S.E.
Oregon desert after a year and a half in high school. In 1905, at the age of
21, he received an appointment to West Point. He graduated in 1909 -- the
oldest man in his calss. He was an outstanding athlete, and participated in
the fencing and military pentathlon events in the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp,
Belgium, earning medals for marksmanship, riding and fencing. He served in the
Infantry during WW II, re-entering active duty at the age of 60. He was the
oldest combat officer in the European theater, and was much decorated, earning
a Silver Star, a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Fench Legion of
Honoe, among other honors. After his retirement, he and Margo traveled
extensively in South America for five years before settling down in San
Francisco, and finally, Atlanta, GA, where they lived out there lives.
