!S.P. May p.436 Warren Sears removed with his father, who was a farmer, to Ann Arbor, MI, in 1829; worked for him several years, and at the age of 21, commenced as a carpenter. In Feb 1845, he moved to the township of Brighton, MI, purchased about 200 acres of land,a nd built a log house, which is still standing, 12 years later building the house which he now occupies. When he settled in Brighton, the country was yet new, and no improvements had been made onthe land which he bought. Deer, wild turkeys and wolves abounded. He carried his wheat to Detroit, and sold it for 50 cents a bushel, making the trip with his yoke of oxen. At present he cultivates about 100 acres.
